Our organization is 370 members strong On August 30, 2007, the American Forces' Spouses Club (AFSC), will be hosting the annual Newcomer's Welcome and Activities Sign-up at the Dragon Hill Lodge from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for all area organizations to display information and offer sign-ups for various activities. If you are interested in participating, you will be provided a whole or half sized banquet table and chairs in and around Naija Ballroom at no cost. Set up will be from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. On behalf of the Langley Officers' Spouses Club, welcome to Langley AFB and Hampton Roads. You'll soon discover the area is rich in history, from the first landing of English settlers in the New World to the beginning of space exploration. The Langley OSC is also steeped in history and tradition. Our spouses come from many backgrounds and experiences, but the common thread is being part of a military family. For scores of years, we have been and continue to be a support system for each other in times of joy and sadness. The camaraderie we share is unique, and we are eager to share it with you! Our club has two components: social and charitable. The Langley OSC social calendar begins in September with our Special Activities Sign-Up Program and ends in May when we award our scholarships. These programs are designed to inspire, teach, and enhance your life, as well as provide an opportunity to visit with old friends and make new ones. There are also many "little clubs" that are sure to appeal to your special interests. Our special activities include (but aren't limited to) bowling, book club, bunko, golf, gourmet club, antiquing, bridge, mahjongg, stitching, scrapbooking, Skylarks, and jewelry making. We are an organization that gives back to national, local, and Air Force communities through a variety of fundraising events during the course of the year. These include the American Red Cross, Air Force Aid Society, and Langley First Sergeants, to name a few. Our scholarship program supports area military dependents (students and spouses) in their academic endeavors. |
